davit darejanashvili

Founder, CEO

Davit Darejanashvili is an archaeologist, specializing in the Bronze Age and cultural heritage, and the founder and director of LayerCo.

In 2018, Davit received his PhD from Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. He has 20 years of experience in scientific archaeology and 10 years of experience in commercial archaeology.

From 2008 to 2016, he served as a field supervisor and participated in international archaeological projects under the auspices of the universities of Melbourne, Oxford, and Venice. In 2011, he was a member of the first Georgian archaeological expedition in Kuwait, on Failaka Island.

In parallel, from 2011 to 2019, he was part of the cultural heritage monitoring team at BP Georgia. In 2018, together with colleagues, he co-founded Locus Advisor LLC. From 2019 to 2020, he worked as a cultural heritage specialist for the Georgian branch of Hunan Road & Bridge Construction Group Company Limited during the construction of the F2 section of the highway.

From 2020 to 2021, he worked in Italy at Cooperativa Archeologia as a cultural heritage specialist in the Emilia-Romagna region. He also served as co-leader of the Paravani archaeological expedition and was a visiting lecturer at Caucasus University’s School of Humanities and Social Sciences.

Davit is the author and co-author of around ten academic publications.

Tamar giorgadze

archaeologist, cultural heritage specialist

Tamar Giorgadze is an expert archaeologist at LayerCo and a specialist in cultural heritage protection.

She is a PhD candidate in Archaeology at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University. She holds a Master’s degree in Archaeometry from the University of Liège (Belgium) and has also completed a joint Master’s program in Archaeology at Tbilisi State University and Michel de Montaigne Bordeaux University (France).

Since 2023, she has been working at the Center for Mountain Cultural Heritage Research. Over the years, she has collaborated with various local and international projects, including the South Caucasus Office of the German Corporation for International Cooperation (GmbH GIZ), the Georgian Association of Archaeology, and the Liège Archeoforum. In 2023–24, she led the Mujava archaeological expedition, and from 2021–24 she served as the coordinator of the Lesaules archaeological project.

As an invited and visiting researcher, Tamar has collaborated with Lumière University Lyon; the Maison de l’Orient et de la Méditerranée; the German Archaeological Institute (DAI); and Friedrich Schiller University Jena (2021, DAAD East Partnership Programme).

lana chologauri

archaeologist, cultural heritage specialist

Lana Chologauri is an archaeologist and cultural heritage specialist at LayerCo.

She has a PhD in Archaeology at Tbilisi State University, where she also completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s studies in Archaeology (2010–2016). In 2017 and 2019, supported by Erasmus grants, she spent two research semesters at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. She is a recipient of grants from the Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation, FaRiG, and EU4Culture.

Since 2010, Lana has participated in numerous international archaeological projects in Georgia, Iran, Oman, and Italy. She has taken part in more than twenty international conferences, forums, and congresses, including the International Medieval Congress in Leeds, the Limes Congress, the ICAANE Conference, and the Banes Conference. She is the author and co-author of several peer-reviewed articles and scholarly works in Georgian and English.

In 2017–2018, Lana worked on BP’s major infrastructure projects BP SCPX and BP-WREP as a cultural heritage monitor. During the same period, she was involved in World Bank projects related to the rehabilitation of Dartlo and Omalo.

In 2021–2022, she served as an invited lecturer in Classical Archaeology at Tbilisi State University. Since 2019, she has worked on large-scale rehabilitation projects of cultural heritage monuments across Georgia, including the restoration of Gudiashvili Square, the Palace of Student and Youth Affairs, the Queen Darejan Palace, and many others nationwide.

david bragvadze

Historian

David Bragvadze is a historian and a researcher of national security, international affairs, and regional politics. 

He received his Master’s degree in History from Tbilisi State University in 2011 and is currently a PhD candidate at the same institution.

He has eight years of experience in public service: he served as Senior Adviser to the State Council of Heraldry under the Parliament of Georgia (2010–14); Senior Adviser (2014–15), Deputy Director (2015–16), and Director (2016–19) of the Analytical Department of the National Security Council of Georgia.

Alongside his public service, he has also worked in the private and civil society sectors, focusing on research and consulting.

Since 2011, he has had continuous teaching experience. He is currently a visiting lecturer at the International Black Sea University and Caucasus University, where he teaches courses on the history of Georgia, the history of the peoples of the Caucasus, international relations in the Caucasus region, national security policy, and related topics.

He has completed professional training programs at the German Marshall Fund (Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany), the College of Europe (Natolin, Poland), the Estonian School of Diplomacy (Tallinn, Estonia), Martti Ahtisaari Peace Foundation (Helsinki, Finland), the Rondeli Foundation (Tbilisi, Georgia), and other educational initiatives.

David is the author of numerous publications in the press, as well as in analytical and academic collections and international peer-reviewed journals.

rusudan panozishvili

Rusudan Panozishvili, Communications Coordinator

Rusudan Panozishvili leads the communications direction at “Layerco.”

She has over fifteen years of experience in the media and communications field, with experience in the strategic communication of cultural heritage and environmental protection. Over the years, she has collaborated with local and international non-governmental organizations as well as the private sector, including The National Trust of Georgia, UN agencies, Anaklia Development Consortium, TBC Bank, and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations. Her work has focused on multi-platform communications across areas such as environment and cultural heritage, maritime and geopolitical issues, food safety, agriculture, human rights and media development. 

As a visiting lecturer, Rusudan has been teaching news reporting for ten years at the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA).

She holds a Master’s degree in Communications from The College of Saint Rose (USA), a Master’s degree in Journalism and Media Management from the Georgian Institute of Public Affairs (GIPA), and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences from Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University.

natia beglarishvili

administrative assistant

Natia Beglarashvili is the administrative assistant at LayerCo.

She studied at Ilia State University, Faculty of Sciences and Arts, Psychology Program in 2021-2025.

She has completed an internship in 2023-2024 at the Registration Office of Ilia State University, and then at the Information Office of the Faculty of Sciences and Arts.

In 2024-2025, she was involved in the Tutorial Program of the Tbilisi Youth Center of Ilia State University and other volunteer activities at the faculty.

She has completed an HR Management course at the Digital Industry Academy.
